What Were You Doing In 1984?

Hi everyone. On Friday at 7 PM in Ireland and the UK, that’s 2 PM if you live on the East Coast of America, it will be my pleasure to offer you the usual warm Welcome To The Weekend on www.the-bell.net

In the usual way I will provide you with a large bucket full of feel good music, and an endless amount of friendly banter to rid you of the week that has been, and line you up for the weekend ahead.

All the usual features and more will be up for grabs this weekend.

Kick-Start. The opening tune of the show always sets us on the right track for the weekend ahead and this week there’s no exeption. This hit from 1989 sums up exactly what day this could be for some people.

Double-Take. In this spot of the show we hear two tracks from the one artist. This time we hear two tunes from two very successful albums from Fleetwood Mack. They are a band I have seen 3 times and can’t get enough of their music.

The Irish Connection. In this part of the show, we hear two tracks from two different Irish artists. This week the range of tracks is very different but they do come from 1984.

The One That Got Away. This feature is kept for a track that gets very little if any radio exposure. We get a chance to hear something that doesn’t see the light of day very often, be it an album track or a forgotten single. On this occasion we hear an album track from the first artist I ever saw live.

Why am I talking about 1984? You might ask. It was the year that I began to get pocket money, went to my first gig, enjoyed a long hot summer and ended my time in primary school. At the start of the second hour we will hear some hits from 1984 and any memories you may have, I’d love to hear about them. If you have a particular tune you’d like to hear that reminds you of them from 1984, why not let me know about that too.
