Closing the Bell
Hi everybody.
It was around this time last year that Brian Hartgen and I decided to launch the Bell to carry Welcome to the Weekend and the Music Machine. We were quickly approached by Anne Cosgrove as she was looking for a home for the Zone, which we were both very happy to carry. All 3 shows got an excellent reception from the word go, and the Bell grew from that point on.
We have carried and still carry a number of shows since then, by other broadcasters which brought about over 700 likes on our Facebook page. The Bell grew into something that Brian H and I could not have imagined when setting up a year ago.
Unfortunately, due to personal commitments, both Anne and Brian H could not continue to present the Zone and the Music Machine on a regular basis and give their shows the attention they required to make them the first class shows that they were. Along with this, there is all the background work required to keep a station on the air in technical terms which people don’t see on a daly basis. So, it is for reasons of personal commitment that both Brian Hartgen and I decided to close the Bell from Today.
We would both like to sincerely thank each and every one of you who have listened to the Bell over the last year. Whether it was to our regular shows or our fantastic automation, we appreciate you all taking the time to drop in. We would also like to thank everyone past and present, who has broadcast on the Bell since we have been on air.
However, there are two people who behind the scenes, worked extremely hard and were instrumental to the Bell from the get go, Lulu Hartgen and Paul Jonston. Lulu broadcast as many shows as she could, she was the brains behind our logo and many of our concepts used while on air. Paul was very influential in the design of our website. His attention to detail meant that we had a website which looked visually very attractive. To both of you, a big thank you from Brian H and Brian D.
It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of the Bell, and I hope we have managed to entertain you in some way over the last 12 months.
