Hi everyone
The time has come around again for the Music Machine, Saturday, 2 PM Eastern, 7 PM UK.
I’ve got another musical theme for us to explore together. This week, songs with angel or devil in the title. Especially for those people who like oldies, many artists used to sing about angels or devils, such as Elvis Presley, “Devil in Disguise”. But which songs can you think of?
Do please send your suggestions to brian@the-bell.net, or send a tweet to @brianhartgen. It would be great to play your suggestions!

Hi everyone
Well it’s a line from a famous Glen Campbell song, but it’s also the theme of tomorrow’s Music Machine on the Bell! www.the-bell.net. If you’d like to join me at 2 PM Eastern, 7 PM UK, you’d be very welcome!
This week, the theme is, needing and wanting. There are lots of songs about those subjects, and particularly with those words in the title. So Bananarama, “I Want You Back” would be a good choice, as would Elvis Presley, “I need your love tonight”. But how many more can you think of? I would love to know!

Hi everyone
No, we’re not talking about one hit wonders here, but one word wonders. You can say a lot in a single word, and that is what many lyricists have done with their song titles. I’m looking for your suggestions for this week’s Music Machine!

Hi everyone
Last week as part of the Music Machine, I told you the first part of the Radio 1 Story, the first 30 years. This week, at 2 PM Eastern, 7 PM UK, we have the second episode.

Hi everyone
During the past few weeks, we’ve had a couple of themes on the Music Machine where some songs have been left over. There have been too many good ones which have fitted into the theme, we’ve been talking about them, and the time has just run away. So this week, I’ll play those which remain.
Firstly, and indeed for the majority of the show, we’ll be hearing songs with speech rather than singing. If you can think of a song which mainly contains speech, do feel free to let me know so we can complete our playing of these.

Hi everyone
During the past few weeks, we’ve had some very specific musical themes. So this week, we’re throwing the doors wide open and, if you would like to, you can request anything at all from the 60’s through to the 80’s. This week I’ve considerably expanded our music library, and I’m quite sure I can find whatever you would like to hear. So this week we’ll hear music from the 60’s through to the 80’s, and in a future week, we’ll do the 90’s through to today.

Hi everyone
We’ve had a few very interesting musical themes over the past few weeks and this one is fascinating.
Have you been listening to a new song, and you’ve thought, “I know that song from somewhere?” Well, chances are, you probably have heard it previously. With only a small number of musical notes and chords to choose from, it’s no wonder that someone hasn’t subconsciously copied something from a musical composition. But doing so can get you into some legal hot water.

Hi everyone
Well, we’re in for a very different type of show this Saturday at 2 PM Eastern, 7 PM UK, as I’ll be keeping singing to an absolute minimum! www.the-bell.net
There are more songs than you would think which have been released where there is a lot of speaking rather than singing. Ray Steven’s “The Streak” is a great example where there is a small amount of singing in the chorus, but apart from that, there is just speech. Jimmy Dean’s “Big Bad John” is another top 10 hit in this theme.

Hi everyone
It’s Memorial Day weekend in the States, and the Music Machine's fifth birthday is fast approaching, so it would be good to have a show containing songs about memories. That’s what I’ll be doing if you join me for the Music Machine this Saturday at 2 PM Eastern, 7 PM UK, www.the-bell.net.
